green lunches!

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

along with everyone’s green outfits of choice today, i had a little fun making lunches this morning.  not the most balanced or healthy meal, but a fun one once and a while won’t kill ‘em (and technically probably better than hot lunch from school!)!  kayleigh’s is the top.  the chips are snyder’s veggie chips (green ones only!).   the drinks are just water with green ice cubes… that immediately turned the water green.  should have just skipped making ice cubes (had to way improvise with no ice cube trays and a meat tenderizer!) and just dyed the water green, lol.  rest is pretty self explanatory.  :)

soccer!

Sunday, March 13th, 2011

poor ethan, i’ve been telling him since he was a baby he was going to play soccer.  he did a little soccer camp last year but was pretty bummed it was just learning how to kick, ect.  he wanted to play in a game!  so he asked a couple months ago if he could play soccer this year, on a real team.  i said OF COURSE!  he started practice saturday and so far so good.  he is one of the littlest (they are 5,6, & 7 year olds), but i’m hoping he loves it.  the best part is the practices are right in our little neighborhood at the kids school.

i am going to have to start bringing stuff to keep the girls busy.  it was cold and they were bored.  they played at the playground at the school for a litttle, but it’s too big for charlotte and norah.

it was pretty nice out today – though we woke up to SNOW! of course it all melted by early afternoon.  bubbles were the big star of the day.

on another note…..  john and i have been talking about making my blog private.  it is not something i really want to do, but there is some creepy business going on, and i’m not sure if it’s worth it to leave us so …. exposed?  i am not even sure how to make a wordpress blog private, so it will be a bit before i change it, if i do at all.  but there are some strange things going on that john just doesn’t feel comfortable with.  you just never know who is out there reading, and what they’re doing with the information you put out there.  with him going back to sea duty again soon, he’d like us a little more … low key.  we will see.   if i know you, i will make sure you are able to keep up with us, still!  the internet is a funny thing.

sick.

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

with four kids, two in school, it seems like someone is always sick!  i don’t do sick well.  it freaks me out.  i hate puke (it makes me puke), fevers send me in a google tizzy wondering if my kids are taking their last breath.  it is crazy and over dramatic, but sick makes me really uncomfortable!  i am a worrier by nature, and while i’m a glass half full kind of girl, sick, sends my glass crashing to the ground.  thankfully, i think we are in the upswing, though it was  really (REALLY) long night.  kayleigh woke up feeling off yesterday, but no fever so i sent her to school.  by lunch she was weak & feverish.  so i picked her up & she moaned & groaned (and cried & screamed) on & off until 4am.   i was so thankful charlotte let me sleep in until 6am.  those two hours of sleep were amazing.  but now i feel sick. :/

before sick came along, we had a crazy weekend.  friday kayleigh had a friend sleep over (which resulted in no sleep!), and saturday we had gymnastics and a deployed family event at the aquaruim.  the aquarium did not end well.   you see, my kids usually go to bed at 7pm.  they sleep until i jump on their beds at 6:30am so they can get up for school.   they would sleep until 8am if they could.  so getting 4 hours of sleep did not go well for kayleigh.  or any of us at the aquarium.  i think it was the first time we’ve left anywhere with kayleigh kicking & screaming since she was two.  i am thinking no more sleepovers for a little while.  well, maybe until john’s home.  so he can deal with the hangover, lol.

i did take some pictures, though, that make it appear we were a normal well rested family.  :)   i used the fisheye since i knew it was close quarters (and boy, was it packed.  made me feel really claustrophobic).  we were literally standing against people during the tiger part, which was the only part we were doing with the group.  it was the first thing, too, and at the END of the aquarium.   so we basically ran through to get to the end for the tiger feeding (yes, a tiger – at the aquarium.  apparently he swims).  then before we could go back & start over, kayleigh had her melt down.  at least it was free!

this is from yesterday.  i was trying to teach charlie to blow bubbles.  but she just couldn’t get it figured out.  that wand went in her mouth more than i would like to admit.  yuck!  hoping for a quiet rest of the week!
